Another year, another set of resolutions, and given last year, I need to better my score on these. I've decided to take a different approach. I'm going to identify different facets in my life, and then set a goal or two in each. I found that last year, most of mine seemed to revolve around a few things (recreation - i.e. gaming, reading or money) and not so much around others (spiritual life, family). So here are my facets of life: Family, Spiritual, Work, Money, Health, Social, Recreation. Within those, my 2011 resolutions are:
Family:
Six dates with Stacy
Twelve afternoons with Ethan (i.e. no TV, playing with him and his toys, his games, etc.)
Spiritual:
Follow through with Mystagogia in the spring. Ensure better form and follow through on 2011/2012 Sessions (prepared lessons, regular meeting schedule, etc.)
Either continue with at large status on Lit. Comm. or partake in A&E Chair (decide by Jan 31)
Continue work in Living Your Strengths
Pull back on GOF
Begin giving regularly (goal is to be truly tithing by end of the year)
Work:
Stop letting work "come home" with me (i.e. work frustrations staying at work)
Update LinkedIN and Resume by month's end
Actively apply to new opportunities as necessary
Money:
Do a monthly spending plan, each month, at the beginning of the month
Build an emergency fund of 1000 dollars
Either find a lower rent or buy a house with an equal or lower mortgage payment
Health:
Get under 300 lbs. (current 360)
Kick the soda habit
Social:
Have friends over for dinner once a quarter
Do something without Stacy/Ethan that is not related to work or ministries twice this year
Recreation
Read 30 books
Limit TV/gaming to 10 hours a week (which is still 10% of the week once you deduct for sleep!!!)
That's my list. Here's to a great 2011
Started as a 2010 Resolution (didn't quite meet the goal). Here's to a great 2011.

Looking Back at 2010
My resolutions at the beginning of last year (and how I did):
1) Read at least 6 books for fun (i.e. no business books) - Completed
2) Read one business related book a month - at best, I read 6 business related book
3) Read at least 6 spiritual/personal growth books - Completed
All in all, I read 46 books this year. Quite a benchmark for myself.
4) Complete one video game (there are video games that do have an end, I've just never actually finished one before. I got two for christmas that are that way, so I am going to finish one of them) - Completed...a couple of times.
5) Plan 6 dates with my wife (one every other month - she has the other six) - Fail, maybe 3, maybe
6) Becoming healthier (I don't want to say lose weight or drop this many sizes, etc. because then I won't. Rather, it is more creating the habits with no goal in sight. In the past, I've tried to start exercising with the goal to lose weight and failed. I want this year to approach it, whether I lose weight or not, I'm going to exercise) - Fail, given my success with the goals above, I do need to put a number on my goal.
7) Start drafting a book (yes, I want to write a book) - Started, and while I do think I have a book in me, at this point in my life, there are other things I need to focus on.
8) Payoff all debt with the exception of my student loans (which are still too large at this point to tackle in a year), and our largest two credit cards. - Fail, we added a car loan, and loans from parents. Good news, one credit card will be gone by the end of the month.
9) Start a christmas club account for christmas 2010 so that it isn't a financial burden this year. - Fail, didn't do, but this Christmas did not feel slighted in the least.
10) Apply for (and hopefully take) the Professional Engineers exam in October - Fail, do not know if this is even in the cards right now either.
11) Become more organized. I'm like quasi-organized (ex. I have my comics in a box and they are in order, but the boxes aren't where they should be and I don't have a inventory of them written down anywhere) (less nerdy ex. our bills paying process is still not as defined as we had it when we were in Indiana, so we need to get fully "recovered" from our move. It still seems we are still in relocation chaos). - Fail, the bills have moved from box to box, the comics are still where they were - I could go on and on.
12) Post progress on each of these on the blog - While I did well with some book reviews, etc., nothing close to how much I wanted to post.
